It’s the summer when Natsuru is 11. Ever since he’s turned one of them down on Valentine’s Day, the girls of his class have been constantly ignoring him. This changes just before summer break, when Suzumura, the tallest girl in the year, suddenly talks to him. Later, Natsuru meets Suzumura again outside school and finds out she has a secret.
Avelys Rating: 7.5/10
Avelys Notes: From the looks of the manga, I was expecting something cute and heartwarming. I did not expect to be filled with so many feels. The story focuses on elementary school children, portraying them perfectly. From the dialogue to how they were drawn and even their reactions. I think the author succeeded in making the characters life like. As you read on, the manga takes some unexpected turns, leaving you kind of in shock. It’s not predictable at all, you probably won’t see anything coming, especially some pretty dark themes like death, abandonment and growing up on your own. Things you’d never expect children to go through. I really fell in love with this manga in the end. TLDR: Great writing, beautiful art, cute but develops into a pretty mature work. Also, better version of Lovely Complex (haha). Highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for something sweet with a twist of bitter lemon. Thanks @znfreviews for the recommendation.
