Koukou Debut

KoukouDebutmain

Haruna Nagashima gave her all to softball in middle school, and now that she’s made her high school debut she’s decided to give her all for a new goal. Getting a boyfriend and falling in love!

However, she has one small problem. Since she never paid any attention to fashion or trend in middle school she has no idea how to go about attracting her yet-to-be-found love. But a chance encounter with with Yoh Komiyama provides her with the opportunity she needs. If he coaches her in how to become attractive, surely she can find herself a boyfriend!

Candy’s Score: 9/10

Candy’s Notes: So this was one of the first shoujo mangas I ever read so my score may seem a bit high. I really enjoyed it when I read it. It reminded me a lot of Lovely Complex which is why I started reading it. I think if i read it currently I would’ve been more upset with this manga because it’s this sports tomboy who basically ditches her previous self solely to find a boyfriend. I don’t really like that kind of thing, but I did like everything else about the manga. Main thing I really liked was the couple got together early so we got to watch them grow and develope together. It was extremely cute and I was so sad when it ended. I think we watch them through the entire time in high school, so we go through all those moments with them, like decided what they want to be, going to college or not, the normal high school life. I really liked the characters. They make this manga. They’re funny, interesting, cute, endearing, like every fabulous term you can use, they were. Even the background characters where interesting, albeit forgettable, but really, all we need is the main couple. Haruna obviously had her own personality, but she was more like an adorable puppy around Yoh. Yoh shined for me. I expected him to be an emotionless boring male lead. No, he was mad cute when it came to Haruna. He was chill like he looks, but he had character, personality, and depth. The art is good, not my favorite, but nothing bad about it at all. It’s a great starter manga to break you into the genre and I thin it’s one everyone should read.
